Alpha Kappa Chapter Shines at International Convention

Members of Alpha Kappa with the chapter's awards

The gentlemen of Pi Kappa Alpha at The Missouri University of Science and Technology had another successful year. They managed to walk away from the International Convention in Memphis, TN with a plethora of awards.

The Alpha Kappa Chapter continued their reputation of excellence as they earned themselves a Robert Adger Smythe Award for their outstanding achievement. Alpha Kappa was one of only thirteen chapters to receive this award. This was the fifth consecutive year Alpha Kappa achieved this recognition, declaring them a Dynasty chapter. The brothers took great strides in the 2007-2008 academic year and their hard work and attainment paid off, earning themselves several other cornerstone awards at the 2008 International Convention. The AK Chapter was granted the Chapter Excellence Award, The Improvement Project of the Year award for the implementing a new addition to the house, Management Cornerstone, Alumni Relations Cornerstone, Scholarship Plate for academic achievement, 100% Phi Phi Kappa Alpha Club Participation award, and the International Workday Participation award. Since a chapter can earn no more than two cornerstones, the AK Chapter received honors as runners up for the Campus Involvement Cornerstone and International Fraternity Participation Cornerstone.

With the spotlight shined on the AK Chapter at this year’s International Convention, the Pikes will cherish their accomplishments by means of motivation – a better year and a higher standard of success.
