Our House

Our beautiful English Tudor style house conveniently sits on the corner of highway 63 and 9th street, in the middle of the city, and on the border of campus. The house was designed and built with the sole purpose of being a modern day Fraternity, and it shows in every room of the house. The exterior was designed to look identical to the original structure that sat on the same property for over 70 years. The Pike house is the largest house on campus, with over 28,000 square feet, and of that, over 13,000 feet is common area. The entire house is constructed with an all steel frame and fire-proof composite exterior, making it one of the most fire safe houses in the nation.

In October of 2006 ground was broke on the land on the west side of the house, which is the site of the new addition. The addition will be completed in August 2007 and ready for occupancy for the fall semester. With that addition, the house has a capacity of 104 men, making it one of the largest Fraternity houses in the nation. There are six completely different styles of rooms to choose from. The standard two man room has built-in lofts above a walk-in closet, a four man split room, with separate living and sleeping areas, three man lofted rooms, and two man suite style rooms, which have attached personal bathrooms.

The kitchen has the capabilities of storing, cooking, and serving 120 men daily. To accomplish this feat our full time cook, Betty Jones, uses a walk-in freezer and refrigerator, three deep fryers, an industrial sized oven and stovetop, and a full dish washing station. There is also a large walk-in pantry, and a personal bathroom. The kitchen is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, for use by any member in the house.

Even with all of these amenities, the cost of Pi Kappa Alpha is lower than any of the comparable room and board options offered by the university. The table below shows the price comparisons.
